If they want to make a GI Joe movie, two words.
Seargent Slaughter.
.
The problem with Transformers is that I watched more humans in the first movie than robots. I don't pay to see Transformers to watch humans, I can watch humans in dozens, nay, HUNDREDS of other movies. But there's only few I can watch that involve giant robots blowing up cities, and when I pay to see that that's what I want front and center. The movies titled Transformers, not Shia Lebouf and Friends.

I know lots of nerds are actually into watching the Super Bowl.
.
This must be some new definition of the word "lots."
.
I finally sat all the way through My Neighbor Totoro yesterday, with my daughter. It really is the greatest movie ever.
.
You will bow to Hiyao Miyazaki!

Lev, admittedly I am a nerd-on-the-fringe (that term would sound infinitely better in French I'm sure), but your site gets me all jazzed by things like the Watchmen movie. In fact, I bought a clearance copy of Watchmen on Amazon more-or-less because you raved about it on your site some months back. The power of the printed word, wow. Who watches the quasi-celebrity blog contributor?

Sweet George Mich--errrr Michael Cera as a Centurion! He can drop his sword and mumble about it and then sorta look down at his breastplate and bite his lip and sheepishly-yet-adorably proclaim his undying love for the republic. That one-trick pony is slightly more funny than Jon Heder, but just as useless. Can't wait to see it!!!!

My buddy mentioned GI Joe, the "live action" film, the other day and I sobbed quietly over Xbox Live while telling him that Benicio del Toro would probably play Cobra Commander by working a few "hissssss"es into his Fenster routine. "Gimme the keysssssssss, martherfarger." There are but two ways to keep this from being an abomination: One, tap the talent of Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller to make this a super Sin City meets GI Joe meets The Dark Knight, but for God's sake don't list them as co-directors, 'cause that's not right. Scenario B: GI Joe was a cartoon! Last I checked, animation was all the rage. Make it American-style anime, baby! I don't want Billy Bob as Duke! I don't want GI Joe's vehicles to look suspiciously like Ford's 2009 SUV offerings.

I will probably get sucked in to watching G.I Joe just like the Transformers movie. I just hope I'm not as disappointed. Hey what about the Thundercats movie?

Up, definately. Star Trek and Year One, maybe. No to everything else. Including G.I. Joe. Because knowing that it's going to be a crappy movie is half the battle...

Being a huge movie cynic, the only movies on that list that I have a reasonable chance of seeing are Star Trek and the new Transformers movie. I may see one of those two in the theater. There is a decent chance that I'll forget and never see either.
