Let's start our own SF cable network! We'll call it "Skiffy"! Our slogan could be "We're like Sify for smart people...
...not just the dumb ones who think they're smart!"

@anon76 Yeah, with Siffy you have to go in expecting to have to resort to the mind-bleach. Sometimes they surprise you, but not too often.

Interviewing LeGuin=nerd cred. Not nearly enough to offset the BSG kerfuffle, but its a start.
.

Speaking of, as grateful as I am to Sci Fi (or whatever the hell they want to be called now) for sticking with BSG, I'm still washing my eyeballs trying to cleanse myself of the experience of their adaption of Earthsea. That was seriously terrible, and as I recall I was so disgusted with the channel that I didn't give BSG a chance until the 2nd season.

I loved that character & those books, especially at that time in my life, and I had to be talked out of naming my son Sparrowhawk. Ged, not so much.
.
Side track:I did manage to get Gwydion as his middle name by saying it's an old Welsh name (I have Welsh somewhere back there) and a fascinating mythological character (true). Worked for my daughter, too, whose middle name is Eilonwy. I'm really lucky I got to spend time with Lloyd Alexander and talk about the names before he died. He was really moved by that, which surprised me. He said he didn't know there were so many women named Eilonwy out there. Such a sweet guy. He got totally farked by Disney on the rights to the Prydain books - $30k flat fee, because he was broke in 1973. Back in 2004 I tried to restart the franchise, but I didn't have enough pull with Disney to even buy a donut at their cafeteria. Another producer, though, one who worked on Narnia, did manage to get something going, but I think it died when Disney sold out their part of the Narnia movies.
.
Lev - did you talk at all about the adaptations of LeGuin's books?

I'm curious to know what she thought of Thomas Disch's writing. I love her Hainish Cycle, but Disch, maaaaaan, he really really really really didn't like her at all.
