I feel like one of the millions of starving children who unlike Charlie Bucket didn't get a golden ticket to Willy Wonka's factory and subsequently died in poverty and obscurity. For I have not gotten an invitation to Google Wave:

I do kind of want one though, if only to get a sense of whether it's as rich as it looks. In case you can't be bothered to watch the intro movie, Google Wave is an app/service that combines messaging, collaboration, and media-sharing into one hybrid medium. Pretty cool. I've been waiting for Google to generate something other than the steady stream of interesting also-rans (Google Docs, Android, Open Social, Orkut, Chrome etc. etc.) for which they are internationally famous. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this were it.

  1. Some people fish for fish, some fish for compliments, but Lev fishes for tech! Message me Ishmael!

  8. I don't understand the appeal of Google Wave. Unless you're actually collaborating with someone else it seems like a lot of noise to deal with.

  9. Really? Wow, my head practically exploded while watching this video! The possibilities are endless.

Mind you, I was an English major who is now a computer engineer and one of my geek fetishes is improving communication in the IT sector. Google Wave is practically pornography for me. It's like... a one-stop shop for every method of communication you might want to use to every person you might want to communicate with. I need it pretty much immediately.
