Oh happy day, Android users. Google is releasing Google Maps Navigation to all Android devices running OS v1.6 and higher. So that means everyone on T-Mobile with a G1 or myTouch 3G (at least in the US) will be privy to the beta app that was once exclusive to the Verizon Droid. Nav also brings Layers, which includes transit lines, Wikipedia and View My Maps among other features. There's one caveat though. The “navigate to” voice command is only available on Android 2.0 devices, so whenever the carriers decide to roll 2.0 out is when you'll be getting that feature. In the meantime, you can add shortcuts to your home page for specific routes.

Peter, I was an early adopter of Android, preordering the G1 well in advance, however, as technology will do, it's hardware has been lapped by some of these newer phones.
my question is what a potential upgrade to 2.0 might entail/require? I think my internal memory remaining is something like 18 MB, and that is after clearing out some of the junk I dont use anymore. At what point will my phone be obsolete? Curse you Moore's law
