Over the holiday weekend I found myself in the land of Apple, Google, HP and others. I only managed to run over to Google's Mountain View campus for a few minutes to meet with a few folks but it was my first visit and I wanted to see a few of the things that I'd read about. Aside from the dinosaur, ball pit and swimming pool, I thought the coolest thing was one of the first server racks used. Apparently, Google was being charged per square foot so they crammed as many hard drives into a rack as possible- 4 per as opposed to 1 lined with cork. Just look at the jumble of wires! I'll be sure to bring my SLR the next time I visit the land of Google.

That is some cool stuff there. I wish I could see that in person! I'm amazed that they were able to maintain those without a major frustration-enduced meltdown.
