It's been a busy couple of weeks for me, so pardon the lack of BSG updates.
I hunkered down over the weekend and watched the miniseries because, you know, I had no idea there was even a miniseries. Now I, sort of, understand the recurring Cylon attacks every 33 minutes. I still have questions about WTH is going on, but before we get into that, I want to talk about Bear McCreary and his ridiculous musical score. It's amazing. I can't even begin to put into words how much it kicks ass. It sets the tone for every scene perfectly but not in an “OMG the killer is right behind you” sort of way. Every Colonial Viper vs Cylon sequence wouldn't be half as cool if it weren't for the music. Am I right?
So, I don't have too much to say about the miniseries. I am, however, perplexed by the cryptic notes about there being 11 models left or something. There are 12 humanoid Cylon models? Have we seen all the humanoid Cylon models? Boomer is on the Galactica and f*cking with Helo on Caprica? She set those bombs in the second episode, right? Why was she all wet? Someone tell me what's going on!

Bear McCreary is awesome! The BSG soundtracks are highly recommended.
You eventually get to see all 12 of the humanoid Cylon models, but you're going to have to watch for a while to find out who they all are.
There are multiple copies of each of the Cylons, so one copy of Boomer is on the Galactica and another is with Helo on Caprica.
As far as Galactica Boomer goes, her story in Season 1 is all about her trying to figure out what the frak is wrong with her. Your confusion about her mirrors her confusion about herself.
Just keep watching! The first 2 seasons are guaranteed to please. Your mileage may vary with the final 2 seasons, but I enjoyed the entire series.

Boomer was wet because she planted the explosives *inside* the water tanks (against the outer bulkhead.)
And yeah, McCreary is ossim.

Like 13enster said, we were all in the same boat you are in when watching the first season. Everything was confusing. If you go back and look at forums around that time, there were people questioning the same things.

Bow before the poundy drums!
The music only gets better as the series goes on. Each season's soundtrack is most definitely worth an investment. The battle themes ALONE are worth the price of admission
