Swype is a pretty compelling new input method for touch-screen devices. Most of us have seen Samsung's world record breaking fastest text messaging commercial, which seemed a bit gimmicky until I actually tried it out on a device.
In an article this morning in the NYT, Jenna Wortham reports that Swype is “tinkering” with the iPhone and iPad. The Seattle-based company hopes to show Apple what they've been working on soon. Does anyone else want Swype on their iPhone? I do!

I've been using Swype on my EVO 4G and really like it. It still feels like sometimes tapping with two thumbs would be quicker, but when I actually time myself and factor in mistakes/typos my true "throughput" is always faster with Swype. I'm also finding it much more comfortable to Swype when holding the Evo in portrait mode; it's more comfortable to hold the EVO with one hand and Swype with the other than grip it on the sides and thumb-text (which often results in me accidentally hitting the capacitive search button or home!).
Now that I've gotten used to Swyping I find myself really wishing I could use it on my iPad as well. Even though the keyboard is much bigger on the iPad, it still isn't a true "touch-typing" experience and I make all kinds of random mistakes from missed/unrecognized keystrokes, which is something that doesn't happen with Swype.

I would love to see this on the iPad (and my wife's iPhone

Hey Peter, why does this get a "sexing" tag?
