Panasonic 3D Camcorder Due in October for $1400

Panasonic's HDC-SDT750 camcorder will be here in October with a price tag of $1,400. That'll get you a decently outfitted 3-chip camcorder capable of shooting in 1080p at 60 frames per second. You'll also get a special lens that you can attach to the camcorder, allowing you to shoot in 3D. So two cameras on one, sort of. Well maybe not really. Whatever the case, you won't have to shoot in 3D all the time, but you'll have to option to do so via a relatively simple lens that attaches to the body of the camcorder.

The company is planning a similar interchangeable 3D lens attachment for its LUMIX G digital cameras. It's due by the end of the year, although pricing hasn't yet been revealed. Says Panasonic:

"Currently, 3D shooting with an interchangeable lens system camera is possible only by using panorama systems or by combining two lenses and two CCDs. However, these systems are not ideal and have difficulty capturing moving objects. Panasonic's new 3D lens for the LUMIX G Micro System features two optical systems installed within the diameter of the lens mount, creating stereo images from the left and right lenses that are then processed with a 3D image processing system."

hdc-sdx1h Panasonic also announced the HDC-SX1, a half-pound full HD camcorder that doubles as a Skype-compatible webcam. It's due in September for $500.

hm-ta1hThe company has a new pocket camcorder as well, the HM-TA1, due in August for $170. It shoots in full HD, supports Apple's new-ish iFrame format, and, like the HDC-SX1, can double as a Skype-compatible webcam.

  2. That is still a hefty price tag for a 3D camcorder. Has anyone heard about the lower cost alternative made by Aiptek? Here is a review - http://www.3d-camcorder-review.com/Aiptek/

It will be release in a few weeks!
